With the vision of building a “City of Heritage” and a “City of Festivals,” Ha Long City organized a series of special events during the 2025 Summer Tourism Week. The highlight of the program is Carnaval Ha Long 2025 – a highly anticipated cultural event that has become an essential part of launching the summer tourism season.
Carnaval Ha Long 2025 took place on May 1st at Sun Carnival Square, Ha Long City, under the theme “Connecting Heritage – Shining with Pioneering Spirit.” It was a grand artistic celebration, blending spectacular sound and light displays to deliver a vibrant and emotional cultural experience for attendees.
Each year, Carnaval Ha Long continues to evolve in both form and content, reinforcing its position as a signature cultural and tourism event of the city. The program steadily enhances its brand and becomes an indispensable highlight of the annual Ha Long Tourism Week.
This year, in the heroic atmosphere of the 50th anniversary of Southern Liberation and National Reunification, around 20,000 residents and visitors joined voices in the song “A Nation’s Complete Joy.” The vivid red flags waving in the breeze and the glowing phone screens created a touching and deeply patriotic ambiance.
The show opened with Chapter I: “Ha Long Heritage – Magnificent Wonder,” featuring a real-life mapping performance entitled “Legendary Ha Long,” recreating the breathtaking beauty of Ha Long Bay – a natural masterpiece with towering limestone formations emerging from the sea.
For the first time in Carnaval Ha Long, Vietnam’s intangible cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO were not only showcased but also revitalized to integrate with contemporary trends. Impressive performances such as Then singing from Binh Lieu, Hue royal court music, Central Highlands gongs, the Co Doi Thuong Ngan ritual, and Don Ca Tai Tu folk music were intricately choreographed, vividly expressing the spirit of “Heritage within Heritage.”
With nearly 1,000 artists, singers, musicians, artisans from across the Northeast region, and both domestic and international art troupes, the program presented a cultural symphony – igniting inspiration about a vibrant, richly-spirited Vietnam with powerful inner vitality.
Carnaval Ha Long 2025 also featured strong international elements, with the participation of art troupes from Laos, China, and more. The audience was especially thrilled by the performance of singer Quang Hung Master D and the segment “Ha Long in the Vibrant Colors of the World,” which combined lively carnival drums and captivating musical rhythms.
The most anticipated moment was a 15-minute high-altitude fireworks display synchronized with a parade of themed carnival floats. The dazzling fireworks illuminated the Ha Long sky, closing the show with overwhelming excitement.
Carnaval Ha Long 2025 officially kicked off the bustling summer tourism season in Ha Long City. A series of enticing cultural, artistic, sports, and culinary events await visitors, such as the Tran Quoc Nghien Temple Festival, the 2nd Ha Long Lion Dance Festival 2025, and the Ha Long Beer and Squid Cake Festival.
For running enthusiasts, the Ha Long International Heritage Marathon 2025, set for November 23rd, will be a unique opportunity to explore the scenic coastal route where the world natural heritage of Ha Long Bay meets the determined steps of thousands of runners from all over.
